No offense to any of the “cool” Christians. But honestly I can’t tell you how many times people have come to me and tried to tell me what Christianity is “really all about”. You know, the “real” Christianity. As opposed to all the other “fake” Christians who also seem to believe that their form of Christianity is the real deal.
Personally I don’t understand it. The waters are so muddy. I don’t even like to debate the topic anymore because it’s fruitless. There are so many people with so many different forms of belief, Christian or not. I’ve come to realize you really just have to take a person as they are on an individual basis.
I guess it’s like anything else in this world. It’s never just black and white. There are so many shades of gray. But I’m starting to think that maybe Christians shouldn’t even call themselves Christians anymore. They should just tell people what they believe. It’s not even practical anymore to say “well we all believe in Christ, that’s what makes us all Christians.” Really that’s so generic and worthless these days. Simply because even among Christians there are so many points of view about what Jesus meant when he said something and how people should live by it.
You might as well just spell it all out.
@TheSeventhRhapsody – Gee, thanks.
…huh… i was raised a christian, and i TOTALLY hear you. it’s very confusing. i, in fact, am also confused.
