In Greek, the letter Χ (chi), is the first letter of Christ, and it, or the similar Roman letter X, has been used as an abbreviation for Christ since the mid-16th century.[9] Hence, Xmas is often used as an abbreviation for Christmas.
All you “Xmas takes Christ out of Christmas” believers can now shut up.
ROTFL. Booyah.
Yup. Not all Xtians are well informed. That’s okay. We’re all uninformed about a great many things.
Christmas is XTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEME lol
good one
I’m glad someone wrote this.
“Xmas” in itself is not offensive to me, but there is a trend which has established that particular spelling as being the less “religious” version. In some cases, Xmas actually does intentionally take the Christ out of Christmas. In other cases, it’s just there because someone’s feeling lazy or couldn’t fit it into a Tweet :p.
I didn’t know that! soooo good to know now!
lol. i didn’t know that.
Haha, this is old news (literally!). People say this in my church all the time.
-snort-
:)
Well, no one really knows what the X is, except some people. Not all are Greek experts.
Giggle. Then again it’s pretty common to see… people spew nonsense without knowing what they are talking about.
