Xangans by first name

Every so often I see these posts where people mention other xangans by their first name. As if we are all supposed to know who they are. I’ll admit I only know a few xangans first name and those are usually the people that have it in their username somewhere. Then of course their is Dan, everyone knows Dan and if you don’t, well, you will.

I know it’s as simple as just looking next to their blog. But for some reason I don’t. In fact some days I’m not even sure what my name is. In my head (at least while on this site)I refer to myself as roxics (rocks icks) which is name that I invented for a character in a story I was writing years ago. I adopted it as my online username probably a decade ago and a google search for it will result in much information.

That said my real name is Michael as all the females like to call me. Mike as myself and the guys call me. But you can just call me roxics because there are far too many Michael’s in the world.

Don’t take offense if I don’t know your first name or the first names of other xangans, it’s just how I think.

  5. I probably know the real name of less than 10 people on here; hell, I don’t even have my real name on here. I prefer to think of people as anonymous entities writing in cyber space anyway.

  9. I don’t know that many people on here by their real name either. Honestly I don’t even make an effort to find out, unless they’re someone I interact with a lot. Most people know me by Nita, since it’s obviously in my username, but that’s just my nickname. My real name isn’t that common. That’s why I don’t have it openly out on xanga. 

  11. I’ve learned a lot of Xangans’ names.  It took me a while, though, and there are still plenty I don’t know.

    For anyone who doesn’t know, I’m Stefanie.  My nickname is Steanie, so you might see me referred to as that, too.

  13. I like Roxics, it’s more edgy. I know most of my (close) xanga friends by their name. They are not many anyway. I could name about 20. They all know my name too and they call me by it.

    So hey, it’s me Sarah ( the most common and boring girl-name in the universe. I blame my parents for their lack of creativity)

  16. I’ve seen that. I didn’t know who Tukha was for a long time, but I figured it out. I know my friends that I also know IRL obviously. I know Dan, and I know Gloria (breaking_expectations up there), and back before Manstration left everyone called her Olya and I knew that. Most others I refer to by their usernames.Or a shortened version of it, like I call “Chris” up there BlueSky in my head. Lol

  18. I think between XTV’s and Chatrooms that I’ve been in with other xangans, MySecretLoveAffair was just too big of a mouthful.  When I wrote under Jediwa72…everyone called me Jediwa.  But, somehow, over time people just started calling me Jess.  I’ll answer to any of them. 

    I’m horrible with names so it usually takes a whole bunch of talking before I can remember anyone by anything other that their screen name.

  23. Sheesh, I can barely manage to remember the names of my co-workers.  I’m absolute rubbish when it comes to names.  So Xangans are just gonna hafta deal ;)

  24. I only know two people’s first names on here.  I don’t think I make much of an effort to be on Xanga as much as I used to, so that’s probably a contributing factor why I don’t know many people’s names.
