I’m getting my creative juices flowing again. I’ve been writing a new feature length screenplay. A sci-fi film. I’m excited about it. The last feature film I wrote and directed was back in 2003. It was called Falling Apart. It was an indie horror film. A great experience and learned so much and got to work with a lot of great people. We had a cast and crew of about 20 people. Since then I’ve learned so much more. On top of that the technology has advanced a lot in the last six years.
Right now I’m not giving any details on my new project. I feel like in the past I’ve said too much and its taken the wind out of some of my projects in development. But I’m off to a great start with this screenplay. I’m also surrounded by some very talented people. At this point it’s just a matter of sticking with it and making it happen.
The other day my son Gabe asked me “what do you want to be when you are grown up?” To which I answered “I’m already grown up.” So he continued “what are you then?” I had to think of a good way to explain it to him and then I realized and told him “I’m a filmmaker.” I wasn’t lying. I’ve made indie films. The bosses pay me to make commercial videos, which are really a different kind of filmmaking, but still along the same lines. Now it’s just a matter of making another indie film for myself. Going above and beyond everything I’ve done before.
Me and my brother(one_eared_batman) love making movies and short videos. Unfortunately we don’t have the budget or the friends to make anything note worthy.
I like your new layout a lot.
Though Sci-fi isn’t my genre, I’d love to crew up if you’re shooting in my vicinity. What metro are you in again? I should remember from your posts, but I’m in IO.
@ProfessorTom – I’m in Detroit.
@methodElevated – Thanks. I do too. :)
@Simbathe2nd – Just depends on what you’re doing. While lots of money would be nice, I think a good story and a lot of drive can get you pretty far.
@roxics – I knew that. You just posted about Detroit. That’s a far spell from Alabama. Nevertheless, let me know when you move into pre-production.
Good luck. I love stories and people who tell them.
Luck with the film. I like the way you think, and have confidence you will succeed at what you love to do.
